A history of innovation

Founded in 1985, Idox made its entry into Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) in 1994, with the acquisition of Open Image Systems. In 2010, expanding its focus on EDMS into new markets, Idox acquired McLaren Software, a major player offering on-premise and cloud-based asset operations, project management and collaboration solutions for engineering document management and control to the oil & gas, mining, utilities and pharmaceuticals sectors. McLaren Enterprise was widely recognised as one of the most advanced solutions on the market.

Further acquisitions quickly followed, including CTSpace, FMx and Artesys International resulting in the creation of Idox’s Engineering Information Management (EIM) division, which was then brought together under the Opidis brand name. Its key products included Opidis, Fusion P8, Fusion Enterprise and the new cloud-based solution, FusionLive. The business continued to invest in FusionLive, adding BIM capabilities in October 2013 and a business intelligence portal in April 2014. In 2020, following a full company rebrand, the EIM division began operating under the parent company’s Idox brand as part of the company’s strategy to focus on software to support critical infrastructure.
